Katrina Foley Criticized for Allegedly Using Community Resources to Further Herself

Audio leak reveals some community leaders are blasting Foley for her use of county money.

An audio message leaked revealing two Republican leaders criticizing Democrat Supervisor Katrina Foley for using community resources to further push her name ID.

The recording is from a March meeting of the Orange County Young Republicans with OC Supervisor Don Wagner and Diane Harkey. Harkey is running for Supervisor in District 5 against Foley.

“We are watching her like a hawk,” Wagner said. “She’s been spending money in the [new] 5th District – county money.”

“And I’ve brought an item to the board to put a stop to that,” Wagner added. “So we’re watching her.”

Wagner and Supervisor Andrew Do announced a proposal prohibiting county supervisors from utilizing county resources outside the cities they represent at the time. The only exception is if the supervisor receives permission from the district they desire to use county resources in.

Recently, four supervisors blasted Foley for using county resources on event booths and concerts that feature her name in Costa Mesa and Newport Beach.

“Your tax dollars should go to help you, in your district, where you are represented. And should not be allowed outside of the district – perhaps to campaign for an office,” Wagner said at a recent supervisors meeting.
