The Congresswoman is joining a fundraiser as her election nears. Congresswoman Katie Porter (D-Irvine) is fundraising in a new way: Drag Queen Bingo night.
The Democrat representative will be the special guest at the August 18 event, held at STRUT Bar & Club in Costa Mesa, and is put on by Lavender Democrats Orange County, an organization that seeks to elect LGBTQ candidates.
The host of the Drag event will be Drag Queen Madame LaQueer from reality television show RuPaul’s Drag Race. The colorful & vibrant Drag Bingo Night will have a night of activities and seeks to boost Porter’s war chest of nearly $20 million cash on hand.
Per the sign up website, tickets go for as high as $10,000 to join the night with Porter, a seemingly high price for a representative who regularly says she fights for middle class Americans.
Locally in Orange County, some are questioning the decision behind Porter fundraising with drag queens and not sitting at the dinner table to hear middle class Americans’ concerns. As this fundraiser goes on in her district, do you think Representative Porter’s Drag fundraiser will help average hardworking Orange County citizens?
