The Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry received a big gift last week, as freshman Congressman Mike Garcia donated 1,000 pounds of food as part of his congressional campaigns monthly event called “Saturday of Service”.
In a post to his Facebook page, Garcia said, “The past year has been incredibly difficult for our community, but charity is how we’re going to be able to move forward and recover. I ran on a commitment to the Constitution, capitalism, competition and CHARITY, and I am proud of the work #TeamGarcia is doing!”
Congressman Garcia and twenty-five volunteers formed the corps of volunteers that picked up trash in Canyon Country last month and are planning a blood drive next month.
