Congress passed HR 4502, a $600 billion spending bill that would allow the use of taxpayer dollars to fund abortions for the first time in nearly 45 years.
In addition to eliminating the Hyde Amendment, which previously prohibited taxpayer dollars from being spent on abortions, HR 4502 includes funds to relocate and renovate facilities for the largest Planned Parenthood affiliate in the country, which performs thousands of abortions each year.
Orange County Democrat Katie Porter voted to pass the bill that would allow a 21% spending increase over Fiscal Year 2021. It has many taxpayers worried about further exacerbating inflation and increasing the cost of living for everyday American families.
Pelosi’s appropriations package includes seven bills that significantly increase Democrat domestic spending priorities, underfunds national defense, and allows taxpayer-funded abortions.
Republicans in the House argue that the spending bills are “overfunded” at the expense of the military, the Pentagon, and immigration and police funding.
“[The bills] will not be taken up by the Senate, and they will not become law,” Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA.) said about the bills.” Given the looming Sept. 30 deadline to fund the government, I would just hope that my liberal colleagues across the aisle would work with Republicans to craft a bipartisan appropriations measure that can make it to the President’s desk.
