Wedding shooting, Sacramento attack, and Dallas ICE facility ambush highlight rise in leftist extremism.
A string of violent incidents tied to leftist extremism has erupted in the days following the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, raising alarm about escalating political violence across the country.
In New Hampshire, police say a gunman opened fire during a wedding at the prestigious Wentworth by the Sea Country Club. Witnesses reported the attacker shouted “Free Palestine” before wounding several guests, an outburst many described as politically motivated. The Associated Press confirmed the shooting remains under investigation, with authorities probing its ideological links.
Meanwhile, in Sacramento, the FBI arrested a man accused of opening fire on KXTV, an ABC affiliate. According to the New York Post, the suspect — previously released on bail after an earlier violent incident — returned to target the station, damaging property and terrorizing employees. Federal officials are now weighing whether the attack was driven by extremist ideology.
And in Dallas, authorities identified 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, a registered Democrat who voted for Joe Biden in the 2020 primary, as the gunman who opened fire on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center Wednesday. Jahn targeted an ICE transport van, killing at least one person before agents returned fire and stopped him. The incident is being viewed as another example of anti-ICE hatred fueled by the left’s calls to undermine or abolish the agency.
These incidents come as conservatives warn of an alarming surge in left-wing radicalization. Utah Governor Spencer Cox has already tied Kirk’s assassination to ideological extremism, noting that the killer’s “political beliefs were very different from his family’s and reflected a radicalization we have to take seriously.”
Lawmakers stress that federal officials must not minimize or excuse politically motivated violence. “What we do know is that political division has continued to deepen in this country and that political violence is on the rise,” Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-Calif.) wrote on X, demanding equal treatment of violent threats regardless of ideology.
Taken together, the wedding shooting, the Sacramento media attack, and the Dallas ICE ambush illustrate a dangerous wave of leftist-inspired violence that threatens public safety and undermines democratic norms.
