This incident marks the second bomb threat at Foothill High in just over 18 months.
Tuesday, September 16, 2025 — Foothill High School in Tustin was placed on a temporary shelter-in-place protocol today after the campus received what administrators described as an “anonymous report” that raised safety concerns. Parents and guardians were notified by message earlier in the day, though few details were provided at the time.
As of now, it appears the report was a false bomb threat.
Administrators said the shelter-in-place protocol was taken out of an abundance of caution. Shelter-in-place allows classes to continue while “limiting movement on campus so that staff and law enforcement can conduct an investigation without interference.”
Initially, parents were urged not to come onto campus while authorities assessed the report. That restriction was later lifted, and families who wished to pick up their students were directed to go through the attendance office and follow established protocols.
Authorities have completed their sweep of the school and no devices were located.
Rumors abound, as is often the case with threats of this nature. It is important to follow only official reports and not hearsay. In an Instagram post on the subject, one parent claimed a sheriff mentioned a rifle being found in a vehicle—though this claim remains entirely unsubstantiated and officials have not confirmed any weapons on campus. In fact, this contradicts current police findings.
“This is not true,” one parent responds.
“There’s a lot of students that see these comments and I just don’t want them seeing false information that can get misinterpreted and create more scare than the lockdown already did,” said another.
This appears to be the second bomb threat at Foothill High School in just over 18 months. In March 2024, Orange County Sheriff’s Department responded to a “vague bomb threat over the phone.” Officers arrived on the scene with explosive detective dogs and later deemed the threat to the school as not credible.
We will update our reporting if any additional information becomes available.
