L. A. County Supervisors Seek to Promote $1 Tickets for Hollywood Bowl Concerts

The Hollywood Bowl offers $1 tickets for select concerts that the public is largely unaware of.

The Hollywood Bowl has begun increasing the promotion of their $1.00 tickets to the general public for select concerts. The discounted tickets are good for L.A. Philharmonic performances that run from Tuesdays through Thursdays in the summertime.

In a recent motion, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors sought to promote the Hollywood Bowl’s $1.00 tickets for select performances. The discounted ticket price is intended to promote the general public’s attendance to LA Phil concerts.

The Hollywood Bowl is operated by the Department of Parks and Recreation in coordination with the LA Philharmonic. The motion directs both departments, as well as a couple of others to promote the ticket prices on social media and other media outlets.

Supervisor Katherine Barger was the one who introduced the motion, and recently stated that she wants “the public to know that the Hollywood Bowl is accessible, and more importantly affordable.” She added that there are a “total of about 40,000 $1.00 tickets available for residents to purchase,” and the seats themselves are very good seats.

In addition to the affordable tickets, the venue offers $7.00 shuttle services for ticket purchasers, and allows attendees to bring their own food and beverages, something very unique for most concert venues. This allows attendees to even bring their own beer and wine, though only for the “LA Phil-presented events.”

The total cost of attending one of these evening performances can total only $8.00. These tickets have always been available, though the general public has not been very aware of the opportunity to see affordable concerts at the beloved venue.

The affordable tickets allow members of the public to attend classical and jazz performances of the L.A. Phil when most are unaware that they are able to do so. Barger added that this hopefully provides a way for residents to “unwind” and enjoy the performing arts in a time when most don’t think they can afford it.
